Tai Po Youth Hostel

The 80 room hostel provides short term tenancy housing solution to low income youth. As housing shortage for young people becomes increasingly severe, this pilot scheme aims to explore alternative accommodation and lifestyles tailored to today’s needs. The units are compact, but they are fully equipped with the essential components of a dwelling. In particular the work desk is emphasized because we would like to encourage our tenants to explore alternative career options; along the same line, the building also includes a co-work space and an incubator programme to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit. Co-living, where a closely knitted community shares facilities and resources, will be an increasingly popular trend, and our hostel design will be at the forefront advocating sustainable and low consumption lifestyle.
